Adams unfazed with goal drought
Akor Adams has insisted he is unconcerned by his recent goal drought after helping Sevilla secure a 1-0 La Liga victory over Getafe.

The Nigeria international has now gone four matches without scoring, having drawn blanks against Mallorca, Girona, Alaves and Getafe.

His last goal came in January in a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao, shortly after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite the run, Adams played a decisive role in the winner at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The 24-year-old showed strength to shield the ball from his marker before laying it off for Djibril Sow, who struck into the bottom-right corner. Adams was substituted in the 89th minute, with Gerard Fernandez taking his place.

Speaking to Sevilla’s website after the match, Adams said the result was more important than individual accolades.

“It’s important that the team has achieved this victory, earning points in three consecutive matches,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter who scores, the important thing is that we accumulate points and keep a clean sheet. The work has been good from everyone. Now it’s time to think about next week.”

Adams has been a consistent presence for Sevilla this season in LaLiga, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 20 league appearances, 13 of which have been starts.

He has averaged 66 minutes per game, with a total of 1,315 minutes played.

His expected goals figure of 7.66 suggests he has been getting into promising positions, although he has missed seven big chances and currently has a goal conversion rate of 15 per cent. He averages 2.1 shots per match, with 1.1 on target.

In addition to his goals, Adams has contributed creatively, registering three assists from an expected assists figure of 0.39.

He averages 20.5 touches and 6.8 accurate passes per game, with a passing accuracy of 63 per cent.

While the recent dry spell may attract attention, Adams’ all-round contribution continues to underline his importance to Sevilla as they look to maintain momentum in the closing stages of the campaign.
