Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Engr. (Dr.) Lawson Olorunwa Sunday as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, with effect from April 25, 2026. The appointment follows the retirement of the incumbent rector, Dr. Simeon Olorunwa Adegun, who left office on April 24, 2026.
Engr. Lawson Olorunwa is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology of the Polytechnic. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology and is also a registered engineer with over 25 years of experience in the Nigerian polytechnic system.
Before this appointment, he had served in several administrative capacities within the institution, including Deputy Rector, Director of Works and Head of Department. Until his elevation, he was the Deputy Rector of the Polytechnic.
The new Acting Rector is from Ajagba in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State. His appointment is expected to ensure administrative continuity in the institution following the retirement of the former rector.
