The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has formally reopened the Central Mosque in Ikare, bringing an end to longstanding disputes surrounding the religious facility.
The development marks a significant milestone in the state’s religious and communal life, particularly for Muslim faithful in the area who had been affected by the closure.
The announcement was made during an Iftar gathering held at the International Culture and Event Centre, The Dome, where the governor addressed members of the Muslim community.
In his remarks, Aiyedatiwa called on residents of the state to embrace tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence, stressing the importance of unity across religious and cultural lines.
He noted that religious devotion goes beyond fasting and prayers, highlighting values such as generosity, integrity, compassion, and strong community relationships as essential components of true faith.
The governor further encouraged citizens to use the Ramadan period as an opportunity to promote harmony and strengthen bonds within families and communities.
The reopening of the mosque is expected to ease tensions and foster improved relations among stakeholders, reinforcing the government’s commitment to peace and inclusivity in the state.
