Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Tuesday, led the South-West Zonal public hearing on constitutional amendments of the All Progressives Congress in Akure.
There, he underscored the need for reforms aimed at strengthening the party’s internal structures.
Addressing party leaders and stakeholders at the event, the governor stressed the importance of inclusiveness, internal democracy and merit-based leadership within the APC.
This is according to a statement released by the Ondo State Government on its official X page on Tuesday night.
It read, “Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has called for inclusive reforms, stronger internal democracy and merit-based leadership within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he led the South-west Zonal Public Hearing on constitutional amendments in Akure.”
The release described the exercise as a key moment in the party’s democratic evolution.
“He described the exercise as a historic democratic process aimed at strengthening the party’s internal institutions, stressing that internal democracy is fundamental to the APC’s future.
“The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Executive Committee for initiating a nationwide, inclusive review of the party’s constitution,” it further read.
