The Ondo State Government has been commended for taking what has been described as the right step in addressing the challenge of insecurity across the state.
Public affairs analyst Segun Akeredolu gave the commendation while featuring on Glow FM’s current affairs programme Issues in the Dailies. According to him, the recent meeting held by Lucky Aiyedatiwa with members of the public and relevant stakeholders demonstrates the government’s willingness to engage the people in finding lasting solutions to the security challenges in the state.
Akeredolu expressed optimism that such engagements would produce positive outcomes, especially if the government continues to collaborate with community leaders, security agencies and other stakeholders to strengthen safety across Ondo communities.
During the programme, a caller also shared his view, stating that while the governor’s efforts are commendable, more decisive actions are still required to fully tackle insecurity in the state.
The caller stressed the need for sustained security operations, improved intelligence gathering and stronger collaboration between government authorities and residents.
Reacting to the recent protests in Akure, Akeredolu noted that the demonstrations were initially intended to demand change and draw attention to security concerns. However, he alleged that some individuals with ulterior motives hijacked the protest to cause unrest and disrupt peace in parts of the state capital.
He therefore urged residents to pursue peaceful dialogue and lawful channels when expressing grievances, while calling on authorities to remain proactive in addressing security concerns across the state.
