The Anambra State Government has announced the commencement of the recruitment process for the position of Permanent Secretary within the state's civil service. In a circular released on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, by the Office of the Head of Service, the government invited qualified and interested officers who have reached the requisite grade levels to submit their applications for consideration.
According to the statement, the recruitment exercise is designed to fill existing vacancies in various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). The state government emphasized that the selection process will be strictly based on merit, competence, and a proven track record of excellence in service delivery. This approach aligns with the current administration's commitment to professionalizing the public sector and ensuring that only the most capable hands occupy strategic leadership roles.
Applicants are expected to undergo a rigorous screening process, which includes a written examination, an oral interview, and a comprehensive review of their service records. The government noted that candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of public policy, administrative laws, and the state’s developmental agenda. "We are looking for visionary leaders who can drive innovation and efficiency within the civil service," the Head of Service stated. The deadline for the submission of applications has been set for two weeks from the date of the announcement, after which the shortlisting process will begin.
