The Confederation of African Football has officially declared Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a controversial final against Senegal.
The decision was reached by the CAF Appeal Board, which ruled that Senegal forfeited the match after their players walked off the pitch during the game.
As a result, Morocco was awarded a 3–0 walkover victory, sealing their triumph in the tournament.
The ruling comes after Morocco filed an appeal over the chaotic circumstances that disrupted the final, particularly the actions taken by the Senegalese team.
Reports indicate that the Senegal players staged a walkout in protest after a controversial penalty decision was awarded to Morocco late in regulation time.
The incident led to the abandonment of normal play, prompting CAF to review the situation and make a final determination based on tournament regulations.
By upholding Morocco’s appeal, CAF reaffirmed its stance on maintaining discipline and adherence to the rules of the game, especially during high-profile competitions like the Africa Cup of Nations.
The outcome has sparked reactions across the football community, with debates ongoing about officiating decisions and sportsmanship in crucial matches.
