The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has directed the deployment of 57,000 personnel across the country to provide maximum security during the 2026 Easter celebrations. In a statement released by the Corps' spokesperson on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the CG emphasized the need for heightened vigilance to protect critical national assets and infrastructure during the festive period.
The deployment includes specialized units such as the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), the Disaster Management Squad, and the Female Squad. These officers have been mandated to patrol worship centers, recreational facilities, motor parks, and other high-density public areas. According to the directive, State Commandants have been instructed to ensure that all black spots and vulnerable points are adequately covered to prevent any breach of peace by criminal elements who might want to take advantage of the holidays.
In addition to physical security, the NSCDC has deployed undercover operatives to gather intelligence and monitor suspicious activities in various communities. The Commandant General urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies and report any unusual movements to the nearest security post. He also extended his warm wishes to the Christian faithful, reminding them to celebrate with a sense of responsibility and adherence to safety protocols. The massive deployment is part of a broader inter-agency security strategy aimed at ensuring that Nigerians enjoy a peaceful and secure holiday season across all regions of the federation.
