The Ekiti State Governorship Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says it is looking beyond the June 20, 2026 governorship election as it rolls out its strategy for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election campaign. The council says its goal is to run an inclusive, transparent and credible campaign that will also prepare the state for the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the campaign council and Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, made this known in Ado Ekiti after a meeting of the campaign council. He said the campaign would be well coordinated and designed to deliver a minimum of 500,000 votes for Governor Oyebanji and the APC in the governorship poll, while also laying the groundwork for future presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly elections.
Bamidele added that the campaign would be issue-based and widely representative, with structures carefully put in place to reach the grassroots across the state. He expressed confidence that the achievements recorded by the Oyebanji administration would serve as a major selling point and translate into strong voter support.
Governor Oyebanji, in his remarks, said he was satisfied with the progress already made by the campaign council and party stakeholders, noting that their efforts had laid a solid foundation for a successful outing at the poll. He also commended the strategic planning and grassroots mobilisation already underway.
Also speaking, the Director General of the Campaign Council, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, said anything short of 500,000 votes for the governor would fall below expectation. He said the campaign machinery had been structured to cover all wards and local government areas for effective mobilisation and voter engagement.
