Security and economic experts have warned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could have significant consequences for African countries, particularly in areas such as energy supply, trade, and regional security.
Analysts say many African economies depend heavily on oil imports and maritime trade routes that pass through strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz, making the continent vulnerable to disruptions caused by the conflict.
They explained that any escalation in the war could push up global oil prices, increase shipping costs, and trigger inflation in several African countries already struggling with economic challenges.
Experts also warned that the Horn of Africa and parts of East Africa may face security risks because of their proximity to the Middle East and the presence of foreign military bases in the region.
According to geopolitical analysts, Africa’s strong economic and strategic ties with countries in the Gulf region mean that instability in the Middle East could quickly spill over through trade disruptions, diplomatic tensions, and security concerns.
They therefore urged African governments to strengthen economic resilience and diversify energy and trade sources to reduce the potential impact of external conflicts on the continent.
