The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved six major infrastructure projects, covering highway upgrades and reconstructions across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced on Tuesday.
Speaking after a cabinet meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, Umahi revealed that one of the key projects includes the demolition and complete reconstruction of the Carter Bridge in Lagos.
The council also sanctioned ₦5.6 billion to engage specialized engineering consultants for the design and cost assessment of the new bridge.
“The administration is committed to boosting national infrastructure. Our goal is to complete and commission at least four projects per zone by May 15, ensuring that Nigerians enjoy modern and safe transportation networks,” Umahi said.
The projects form part of the federal government’s broader effort to improve road safety, enhance connectivity, and stimulate economic growth across the country.
