The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has confirmed the arrest of four suspected bandits at the airport in Akure.
The disclosure was made by Henry Agbebire, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the agency.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended during a security operation carried out at the Akure Airport in Ondo State.
Airport security personnel reportedly detected suspicious movements around the facility, prompting immediate intervention by security operatives stationed at the airport.
The swift action by security officials led to the arrest of the four suspects before any potential security breach could occur within the airport environment.
Authorities noted that the arrest underscores the effectiveness of the existing security architecture at the airport and the commitment of aviation authorities to ensure the safety of passengers, staff and airport infrastructure.
Investigations are expected to continue as security agencies work to determine the suspects’ motives and any possible connections to criminal networks.
