Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council.
In a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubabra directed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their ministries without delay.
The dissolution comes shortly after political moves to resolve the lingering crisis in the oil-producing state, including recent high-level reconciliation efforts involving President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The Governor's decision marks a significant moment in Rivers State’s political landscape, where divisions within the state’s political leadership have persisted for months.
It was gathered that, the directive will see the outgoing cabinet effectively replaced with acting leadership led by senior civil servants until new appointments are made.
