The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Yesiro Karamo, just hours before his official inauguration.
Karamo was elected alongside other members of the party’s State Executive Committee during the Lagos APC congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan on Tuesday.
His inauguration, alongside other executives led by the state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, was scheduled to take place at the APC secretariat in Lagos on Thursday before news of his death emerged.
Confirming the development, the Lagos APC, in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sudden loss of the party chieftain.
The party described Karamo’s death as painful, noting that he had just been entrusted with a new responsibility to serve in the party’s state executive council.
Oladejo said the late politician was known for his dedication and commitment to the ideals of the ruling party, adding that his passing came at a time when his experience and energy were needed for the party’s activities in the state.
Party leaders and members have since extended condolences to his family, friends, and political associates, praying for strength and comfort for those he left behind.
