The Lagos State Task Force has clarified its enforcement operations on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes, dismissing reports circulating in sections of the media as misleading and inaccurate.
The agency stated that its operatives are mandated to enforce traffic regulations, particularly against unauthorized use of BRT corridors, in line with existing transport laws in the state.
According to the Task Force, enforcement is carried out professionally and within the ambit of the law, contrary to claims suggesting harassment or indiscriminate actions against motorists.
It emphasized that only vehicles found violating BRT lane regulations are apprehended, adding that such actions are necessary to maintain order, reduce traffic congestion, and ensure the safety of commuters using the designated lanes.
The Task Force also faulted what it described as a misrepresentation of its activities, noting that some media reports failed to accurately reflect the facts surrounding its enforcement operations.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the agency urged residents to comply with traffic rules and avoid using restricted lanes to prevent sanctions.
