Atlético Madrid’s new forward Ademola Lookman announced himself in style yesterday, scoring on his debut as the Spanish side faced Real Betis in a Copa del Rey quarter-final at Estadio La Cartuja.
Recall that, Lookman only just completed his move from Atalanta on Monday, trained with his new teammates on Tuesday, then wasted zero time getting his first goal for the club.
Report has it that, Lookman struck Atlético’s third goal in the 37th minute, after Dávid Hancko opened the scoring in the 12th minute and Giuliano Simeone added another in the 30th.
Meanwhile, Coach Diego Simeone had suggested a day earlier that the Nigerian could be handed his first appearance in the match, and he later praised the forward’s impact and qualities after the game.
It was gathered that, the Nigerian's move ends a long-running transfer situation, closing the book on three-and-a-half seasons in Serie A where he scored 55 goals and supplied 27 assists in 137 matches for the Bergamo side.
