The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reassured Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment during the upcoming Easter celebrations. In a statement issued on Monday, the Director of Defence Media Operations stated that all operational commands have been instructed to intensify patrols and surveillance in identified flashpoints across the country. This proactive measure is intended to deter criminal elements and ensure that citizens can celebrate the holiday without fear of harassment or violence.
The military emphasized that its intelligence network has been activated to monitor any potential threats, especially in areas that have recently experienced security challenges. According to the DHQ, the collaboration between the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other security agencies will be at its peak during the festivities to maintain order in public spaces, major highways, and places of worship. The authorities also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security post.
In addition to the physical deployment of troops, the military has also reached out to community and religious leaders to solicit their support in maintaining peace. The message of the military is one of readiness and service, with a focus on protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians. While acknowledging the current security landscape, the DHQ expressed confidence in the ability of its personnel to provide the necessary protection for a successful and hitch-free Easter celebration.
