The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has clarified that students and staff of Fiwasaye Grammar School, Akure, are to report to school as scheduled for normal academic activities on Monday, May 11, 2026. The ministry said the clarification became necessary following misinformation suggesting that school activities would be suspended.
According to the ministry, the clarification is connected to the proposed visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a function taking place within the vicinity of the school. It said consultations had already been held with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety, smooth movement and orderly conduct of activities in and around the school environment.
The ministry therefore advised parents, guardians, students, staff and members of the public to disregard any contrary information suggesting that academic activities at the school would be suspended. It added that adequate security measures have been put in place and that there is no cause for alarm.
The statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Akindele Ige, for the Honourable Commissioner, as the government sought to reassure stakeholders ahead of the President’s expected appearance in Akure.
