Osimhen’s late goal seals Galatasaray’s spot in UCL last 16
Galatasaray fended off a rousing fightback by 10-man Juventus as Victor Osimhen struck in extra time on Wednesday to secure a 7-5 aggregate victory and send the Turkish champions into the UEFA Champions League last 16.

Holding a commanding 5-2 advantage from the first leg in Istanbul, Galatasaray arrived in Turin with one foot in the next round. But the hosts responded with urgency.

Manuel Locatelli’s first-half penalty reignited belief inside the Allianz Stadium as Juventus sought to overturn the deficit.

The momentum appeared to swing decisively in Galatasaray’s favour just three minutes into the second half when defender Lloyd Kelly was sent off, reducing Juventus to 10 men.

Yet, in a remarkable twist, the Italian side refused to fade. Federico Gatti’s close-range finish and a powerful header from Weston McKennie forced extra time, drawing Juventus level on aggregate and setting up a tense finale.

With energy draining from the hosts, Galatasaray’s composure proved decisive. Osimhen latched onto a through ball in extra time and calmly finished to restore the visitors’ aggregate lead.

Barış Alper Yılmaz added another late strike to extinguish Juventus’ hopes and complete a dramatic two-legged contest.

The result sealed Galatasaray’s place in the knockout stage, where they will meet either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16, marking a significant European milestone for the Istanbul club.
