Philanthropist Azeez Yusuf, popularly known as Nino Agege, has joined the race for the Agege 02 seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, declaring his intention to seek the ticket of the All Progressives Congress.
According to a statement cited by Punch, Yusuf made the declaration on Wednesday at the Power Line Praying Ground in Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, shortly after organising a medical outreach for residents.
Speaking at the event, Yusuf said his ambition was driven by the desire to serve the people and contribute to the development of Agege through effective representation in the state assembly. He also pledged to continue and expand his charitable efforts if elected.
The development follows earlier backing from a youth group within the APC, the Orile-Agege Youth Vanguard, which in March declared support for Yusuf’s aspiration, describing him as a grassroots philanthropist with a track record of supporting women, widows, widowers, youth education, and sports in the community.
This entry adds to growing political activity in Lagos ahead of future legislative contests, with stakeholders in Agege already beginning to align behind preferred aspirants.
