Plateau PDP Suspends Wike-Backed Factional Chairman
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has suspended Peter Tongshep, a factional chairman aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Tongshep was recently elected as chairman by a faction of the party alongside 38 other executive members during a controversial congress attended by key figures loyal to Wike.

The Plateau PDP leadership, under Raymond Dabo, announced the suspension in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Choji Felix Dalyop.

According to the statement, the party invoked relevant provisions of its 2017 Constitution (as amended), citing Tongshep’s conduct as falling under disciplinary violations.

The party stated that the suspension would last for one month with immediate effect, during which Tongshep is barred from performing his duties.

It added that the matter has been referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and recommendations.

The PDP reaffirmed its commitment to party discipline and adherence to constitutional provisions, stressing that actions inconsistent with party rules would not be tolerated.

The development comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the Plateau State chapter of the PDP, with rival factions laying claim to the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
