Romanian Marian Marinica has quit as coach of Zimbabwe due to undisclosed personal reasons, the national football association, ZIFA, announced on Monday.

The 61-year-old was appointed last November on a one-year contract.

He previously coached Malawi and Liberia.

Marinica took Zimbabwe to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The Warriors were eliminated after the first round having drawn with Angola and lost to Egypt and South Africa.

Former national team captain Kaitano Tembo has been appointed caretaker coach ahead of a May 26-30 Unity Cup tournament in London featuring Zimbabwe, India, Jamaica and Nigeria.
