Reports reaching Glow FM indicate that aBUJA- THE President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has declared vacant the Ondo South Senatorial District seat vacant.
Akpabio made the announcement during plenary on Tuesday.
in the words of him, declaring the seat vacant followed the appointment of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who hitherto occupied the seat, as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The President of the Senate called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a bye election in the next 30 days to fill the existing vacancy in line with extant laws.
Akpabio directed the Clerk to the National Assembly to transmit the resolution of the Senate to the Independent National Electoral Commission for urgent action.
