Head coach of the Nigeria national football team, Eric Chelle, has received a timely fitness boost ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures after defenders Felix Agu and Chibuike Nwaiwu returned from injury setbacks with their respective clubs.
Reports indicate that Agu is set to resume full training with SV Werder Bremen after spending the last two weeks sidelined, offering encouragement to the Super Eagles coaching crew as preparations continue for upcoming matches.
The 26-year-old defender has endured a difficult campaign plagued by injuries. An ankle injury sustained in October kept him out of action until early February and forced him to miss about 13 matches for the Bundesliga side.
The injury setback also ruled Agu out of the Africa Cup of Nations, where he was expected to make his debut appearance for Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Nwaiwu’s return from injury also strengthens the defensive options available to the Super Eagles technical team ahead of future international assignments.
Football analysts say the recovery of both players could improve Nigeria’s defensive depth as the team prepares for important competitive fixtures and international friendlies.
The development is seen as a positive sign for the Super Eagles, who are working to build a stronger squad capable of competing effectively on the continental and global stage.
