Tinubu Postpones Ogun Trip, Heads to Jos Over Plateau Killings

President Bola Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to Iperu, Ogun State, and will instead travel to Jos, the Plateau State capital, to commiserate with the government and families of victims affected by recent gun attacks in the state. The Presidency said the attacks claimed the lives of innocent citizens and that the President’s visit is aimed at showing solidarity with the people at a difficult time. 

According to the Presidency, the President’s trip to Ogun was originally planned for the flag-off of operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport in Iperu. That event has now been moved to Saturday, April 4, 2026, when President Tinubu is also expected to inaugurate two commercial aircraft for import and export operations, as well as the new edifice of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service and its operational vehicles. 

From Plateau State, President Tinubu is expected to proceed to Lagos to observe Good Friday. He will then continue with scheduled engagements in Lagos, Ogun and Bayelsa, where he is expected to commission infrastructure and economic projects. In Lagos, the Presidency said he will commission projects undertaken by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, including the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President, and a school complex. 

Before returning to Abuja, the President is also scheduled to visit Bayelsa State on April 10 to commission projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri. The Presidency said the revised itinerary reflects the administration’s resolve to stand with citizens in moments of grief while continuing its development engagements across the country.
