Vigilante kills girlfriend, shoots, stabs two others in Abia

Reports reaching Glow FM indicate that the Abia State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a local vigilante member who allegedly shot dead his girlfriend, stabbed her sister, and shot another man in Amakama, Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, mentioned in a public address on Thursday that the command received information about an incident at Umuanga Amakama Community involving one Chinedu Anamelechi, who allegedly shot dead Ezinne Ariwodo, stabbed her sister, and also shot another young man from the area.

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the Command swiftly raced to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the deceased in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries,” she mentioned.

She disclosed that the were wounded victims were were freed and rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The deceased, she disclosed, was confirmed dead by medical personnel and has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Exhibits recovered from the scene were taken in for analysis.

Chinaka affirmed normalcy had since been restored in the area and enjoined members of the community not to take the law into their hands.

“Investigation is ongoing as efforts are being made to apprehend the suspect,” she disclosed.
