The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released the official timetable for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates. The timetable, published by the council as the Provisional International Timetable for All Member Countries dated March 26, 2026, outlines the full schedule for the examination across member countries.
According to the timetable, examination activities will commence on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, beginning with project work, oral and practical components in selected subjects. The examination will run through several stages and conclude on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The April 21 date mentioned in some reports appears to refer to one of the first fixed-date practical sessions on the timetable, not the overall start of the examination. WAEC’s published schedule shows earlier examination components beginning from April 7. That is an inference based on the official timetable entries.
Candidates, schools and parents are expected to study the timetable carefully to confirm subject dates, paper duration and examination times ahead of the start of the 2026 WASSCE.
