Former Kaduna State Governor, Ramalan Yero, Senator Shehu Sani, and Senator Sunday Katung have emerged winners of the All Progressives Congress senatorial primaries in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections. Yero won the APC Kaduna North Senatorial District primary with 6,060 votes, defeating Muazu Mukaddas, who polled 1,044 votes, while Bala Ikara secured 362 votes. In Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani clinched victory after polling 9,105 votes.
The Returning Officer, Samira Jibrin, Yusuf Zailani scored 1,021 votes, while Shettima Yerima, who had withdrawn from the race, polled 1,253 votes. Speaking with journalists after the exercise, Sani expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their support. “There is no better representation of the people of Kaduna State than me being their lawmaker and Uba Sani being the governor,” he indicated.
The former senator also thanked his supporters for giving him another opportunity to represent them and commended Yerima for stepping down from the race. He urged all aspirants to unite and work for the success of the APC in the forthcoming elections. Sani pledged to focus on tackling poverty, unemployment, and other national challenges through effective representation and attracting more federal projects to the constituency.
Meanwhile, Senator Sunday Katung emerged winner of the APC Kaduna South Senatorial District primary after defeating former Senator Danjuma Laah and Michael Ayuba. Announcing the results at the collation centre in Jema’a Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Prof. John Laah of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and credible. based on him, Katung polled 7,453 votes to defeat Laah, who secured 1,370 votes, while Auta garnered 878 votes.
