Aiyedatiwa Announces ₦50m Empowerment Package for Ondo Women
Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced a sum of ₦50 million to empower women across the state, including widows and the elderly. The governor made the announcement on Tuesday during an event held with women’s groups at the International Culture and Event Centre, The Dome, Akure

The governor said his administration would continue to stand firmly with the women and girls of Ondo State by supporting their aspirations, amplifying their voices and investing in their future. He described the intervention as part of deliberate efforts to strengthen women-led businesses, expand access to finance and promote sustainable livelihoods.

According to Aiyedatiwa, ₦40 million of the fund will be disbursed immediately as financial grants to women across the state, while the remaining ₦10 million will be used to commence the O’Datiwa Women Cooperative Multipurpose Society. The cooperative is expected to improve collaboration among women and deepen access to economic opportunities and shared resources.

Reports say the empowerment package formed part of activities linked to the state’s 2026 International Women’s Day celebration, which also focused on expanding inclusion and improving support for women in different sectors of society. The event featured participation from government officials, women leaders and other stakeholders.

The intervention comes as the Ondo State Government says it is seeking to build on previous women-focused initiatives by broadening economic support and encouraging stronger participation of women in development across the state.
