Osun Govt Deposes Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Declares Stool Vacant
The Osun State Government has officially deposed the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba Gbenga Oloyede, and declared the stool vacant with immediate effect. According to reports, the decision was announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.

The government said the action followed consultations, legal review, and approval by the State Executive Council. It added that the decision was taken in line with the Osun State Chiefs Law and other relevant legal provisions guiding traditional institutions in the state.

The state also announced the withdrawal of the staff of office and other instruments of authority earlier issued to the monarch. Government said further steps regarding succession would be communicated in due course in line with customary and legal procedures.

Security agencies have also been directed to maintain peace and order in the community, while residents, kingmakers, ruling houses, and other stakeholders were urged to remain calm and law-abiding. The state government said it remains committed to protecting the sanctity of traditional institutions and ensuring due process in all chieftaincy matters across Osun State.
