Public affairs analyst, Segun Akeredolu, has described the water reservoir project by the Ondo State Government as a welcome development, saying improved water supply forms an important part of the welfare agenda aimed at improving the living conditions of residents.
Akeredolu noted that many households still do not have regular water supply, stressing the urgency of expanding access and strengthening water infrastructure across the state.
He maintained that access to clean and safe water remains a critical public service that cannot be overlooked, describing the initiative as a necessary step toward protecting public health and improving the quality of life of the people.
His position comes as the Ondo State Government continues to invest in water infrastructure. In February 2026, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa commissioned major projects in Akure, including a 100,000-litre capacity water project, as part of efforts to improve potable water supply.
Also this week, reports said the state moved to boost supply further with a mountain-top reservoir designed to improve natural distribution across Akure, while the broader Ondo urban water sector reform and sanitation project, backed by development partners, is expected to rehabilitate and expand the water supply system in the state capital.
