A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the alleged terrorism trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and his son Abdulaziz to March 10, 2026, following a request by the prosecution for more time.
The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday postponed the trial of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, until March 10, 2026.
The adjournment came after the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation (DPPF), Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), applied for more time to familiarise himself with the case file. The matter was recently transferred from the Department of State Services (DSS) to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation for prosecution, prompting the request for extra preparation time.
Malami and his son are facing terrorism-related charges, including allegations of failing to prosecute suspected terrorism financiers whose case files were allegedly forwarded to Malami’s office during his tenure as AGF. The defence did not oppose the adjournment but urged the court that if the prosecution failed to commence trial on the new date, the case should be struck out for lack of diligent prosecution.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted the application and directed the prosecution to open its case when the matter resumes on March 10.
