The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast for the next three days, indicating varying degrees of sunshine and cloudiness across the nation’s geographical zones. In its official bulletin released on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the agency provided a detailed breakdown of what Nigerians should expect in terms of temperature and visibility.
According to the report, the Northern region is expected to experience mostly sunny and dry conditions, with daytime temperatures remaining high. Residents in cities like Maiduguri, Kano, and Sokoto are advised to take precautions against heat-related discomfort. Meanwhile, the North Central states, including the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), are projected to have a blend of sunny and cloudy skies throughout the forecast period.
In the Southern and Coastal regions, NiMet predicts partly cloudy to cloudy conditions. There are high chances of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross River, and Delta states, particularly during the late afternoon and evening hours. The agency noted that these localized weather patterns are consistent with the gradual onset of the rainy season in the southern belt.

NiMet further cautioned that while sunshine will dominate most areas, the possibility of occasional dust haze in some Northern states could briefly reduce horizontal visibility. Pilots and commuters are encouraged to stay updated with the agency's latest reports. Members of the public are also advised to stay hydrated and keep their environments well-ventilated during peak temperature hours to mitigate the effects of the heat.
