Obasanjo Urges Traditional Rulers to Promote Peace, Development
Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has called on traditional rulers across the country, particularly in the Southwest, to prioritise peace and actively drive development within their respective domains. He said traditional institutions remain vital to promoting unity, stability and progress at the grassroots.

Obasanjo made the call at the installation and presentation of staff of office to the new Odemo of Isara Remo, Oba Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo, where he stressed the need for monarchs to mobilise their communities and complement government efforts in improving grassroots development.

He said traditional rulers occupy a strategic position in national development and must consistently add value to the lives of their subjects while promoting unity, peace and socio-economic progress. Obasanjo also urged the new monarch to serve as a father to all and foster harmony within Isara and neighbouring communities.

Reports from the ceremony indicate that the event formally installed Oba Ogunbayo as the 38th Odemo of Isara Remo, with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun represented at the presentation of the staff of office.
