The Oyo State Police Command has arrested another suspect linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating within the state, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
The suspect, identified as Taye Adamu, was apprehended on April 5, 2026, in Iluju Village by operatives of the Ikoyi-Ile Division following intelligence-led operations.
According to police authorities, the arrest was made after sustained surveillance and follow-up actions connected to earlier arrests of members of the same gang. The suspect is believed to be part of a group
previously caught with an AK-47 rifle in the Ikoyi-Ile area.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to involvement in multiple kidnapping operations and other violent crimes, providing useful information that is aiding ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in the state has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for a more detailed and comprehensive investigation, while efforts continue to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Authorities emphasized that the arrest is part of a broader strategy to curb kidnapping and enhance public safety across the state. Residents have been urged to support security agencies by sharing timely and credible information.
