Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have detained six suspected fake pastors for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting residents by staging fake miracles and spiritual interventions.
According to a statement by the police, the suspects — identified as Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola, and Ademola — were arrested on February 16, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation by the Command’s tactical teams working with Community Safety Officers in Idanre Local Government Area.
Preliminary investigations showed the men posed as religious leaders and used false claims of divine solutions to financial, health and personal problems to gain victims’ trust and defraud them of money.
The police described the group as operating in a coordinated manner, assigning roles to create a convincing façade of legitimacy before carrying out their activities.
The suspects remain in police custody as further probes continue to determine the total number of victims, the scale of the fraud, and whether others are involved. They are expected to be charged in court once investigations conclude.
Authorities urged members of the public to exercise due diligence and avoid falling prey to individuals who exploit religion or claims of miracles for criminal gain.
