Governors Agbu Kefas of Taraba State and Hyacinth Alia of Benue State have resolved to work together to address the growing security challenges affecting communities along their common border.
The decision followed high-level discussions between both leaders aimed at finding lasting solutions to cross-border criminal activities, including banditry and communal clashes that have impacted residents in affected areas.
Both governors acknowledged that insecurity along the boundary has disrupted farming activities, trade, and daily life, stressing the need for coordinated intelligence sharing and joint security operations.
They pledged to engage security agencies in both states to enhance patrols, strengthen surveillance, and establish mechanisms for rapid response to emerging threats.
The governors also emphasized the importance of community engagement and collaboration with traditional rulers to ensure sustainable peace in border communities.
The renewed partnership signals a proactive approach by both administrations to safeguard lives and restore confidence among residents in the affected areas.
