President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday swear in Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police after the Nigeria Police Council unanimously endorsed his appointment.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the council on Monday, where members approved Disu’s nomination without dissent, paving the way for his formal assumption of office.
Disu had been serving in an acting capacity before receiving full confirmation. His elevation signals the commencement of a new leadership phase within the Nigeria Police Force amid ongoing security reforms and restructuring efforts.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Disu’s appointment comes at a time when security agencies are intensifying efforts to address crime, insurgency, and other emerging threats nationwide.
