A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted four individuals on terrorism-related charges and ordered that they undergo rehabilitation after serving their prison terms.
The court, presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, handed down sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years imprisonment in separate cases involving the defendants.
According to court proceedings, the convicts were found guilty of offences including membership in a terrorist group, providing material support, and handling funds linked to a proscribed organisation.
One of the defendants reportedly pleaded guilty to all charges brought against him, which contributed to the court’s decision during sentencing.
The prosecution team, led by officials from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, presented the cases, while defence counsel represented the accused during the trial.
In addition to the prison terms, the court directed that the convicts be enrolled in a rehabilitation programme aimed at deradicalisation and reintegration into society after completing their sentences.
The ruling is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian government to address terrorism through both judicial enforcement and non-military strategies, including rehabilitation initiatives designed to prevent reoffending.
