The Federal Government has announced the launch of the 2026 edition of its Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp, a technology-focused programme designed to equip Nigerian students with practical digital skills.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, aims to provide young participants with hands-on experience in areas such as coding, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The programme targets children and teenagers, typically between the ages of 10 and 18, as part of efforts to nurture early interest in technology and innovation.
According to government officials, the camp is structured to move beyond traditional classroom learning by offering project-based training sessions, interactive workshops, and access to modern tech tools. Participants will engage in practical activities using DIY kits and technology labs to develop real-world problem-solving skills.
The programme builds on previous editions, which trained thousands of students across different cities, including Abuja, Abeokuta, and Kano. Authorities say the new edition is expected to expand its reach and impact more young Nigerians across the country.
Officials noted that the initiative aligns with broader national goals of promoting digital literacy and preparing the younger generation for opportunities in the evolving global tech landscape. It is also part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity in innovation and emerging technologies.
Parents and guardians have been encouraged to enroll their children, with the government emphasizing that the programme offers a unique opportunity for students to learn, collaborate, and build creative solutions during their holiday period.
