The West African Examinations Council has launched its Digital Certificate Services System, known as WAEC DigiCert, across its five member countries — Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters in Accra, Demianus Ojijeogu, on behalf of the Registrar.
According to WAEC, the DigiCert platform is a mobile and web-based application that allows users to access, request, confirm and share digital versions of their original certificates. The system also enables candidates to recover lost examination numbers.
The Council described the platform as reliable, assuring stakeholders that the authenticity of certificates is guaranteed while reducing administrative bottlenecks associated with manual certificate issuance and collection.
WAEC disclosed that after a successful pilot phase in Nigeria, the platform received positive feedback from candidates and institutions worldwide. It clarified, however, that the traditional printing and issuance of certificates would continue alongside the digital service.
The DigiCert mobile application is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store.
Meanwhile, WAEC also announced the release of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination results for private candidates. Candidates are advised to check their results on the WAEC Direct portal before accessing their digital certificates through the DigiCert platform.
